The beautiful, bright materials and the fun songs, games, and activities make learning Bible, phonics, and math enjoyable. The Curriculum also incorporates writing, science, experiments, history, art, music, stories, Scripture verses, and character development.
concepts easily. By the end of first semester, all of the alphabet letter sounds are taught and the children are reading words up to four letters, as well as 18 sight words and 14 reader booklets. Second semester, blends and other letter combinations are introduced. Many hands-on activities help teach math skills, which include number recognition and order, shapes, patterns, time, calendar, fractions, adding, subtracting, money and measurements. The daily routine in K-5 includes morning pledges, snack time, and recess either on the new playground or in the gymnasium. The Kindergarten students have the opportunity to participate in the Christmas program, weekly chapel, Book-It and National Young Readers Day, show and tell, library, and several field trips. We have enjoyed the post office, the fire station, and the animals at Living Treasures. The children love to celebrate learning all the letters and numbers to 100 with an alphabet party and a 100 Day party. Special parties are enjoyed at Christmas, Valentines, and Easter as well. The Kindergarten graduation in mid- May is the highlight of the year. The children show what they have learned through singing, reading, reciting, and a play. The community is invited to this special program. I enjoy teaching Kindergarten because the children are excited about learning.
